Taking over variety testing and reports from the UK

After the United Kingdom decided to leave the EU, the CPVO started redistributing the varieties of NIAB, the English research station for DUS research. The CPVO has distributed the various varieties among the other research stations in Europe.

Ornamental crops
Naktuinbouw was allocated a number of large ornamental crops such as chrysanthemum. We started setting up trials. With the help of CPVO and NIAB, we ensured that the trials were performed in a similar way to in the UK.

So, before the date of the (first) planned Brexit we were ready to take over the DUS testing for those varieties. Now that Brexit is imminent, we can state that we have complete confidence in a smooth continuation of DUS testing of the ornamentals concerned.

Vegetable and agricultural crops
With vegetable and agricultural crops, the emphasis was more on taking over reports to ensure that access to the European market for varieties registered in the UK continues to be guaranteed.
